HIKING: Waterrock Knob

← NC TUCKASEGEE RIVER SR 1172 NEAR CULLOWHEE NC Triple Blaze →

Description

This trail starts by pulling off the Blue Ridge Parkway into a visitor center where you can park and begin hiking. It is a key place to hike and one of the highest altitudes in the Smoky Mountains.<br />
The steep climb gains 412ft in elevation, but it's totally worth it with stunning mountain top views of Maggie Valley below. There are places to rest and overlooks along the way.

Directions

From Waynesville, N.C. go about 8 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP) and head toward the Smoky Mountains. Just after mile marker 451, look for the exit to a giant tourist parking area near Waterrock Knob. Park here.
